Class Trains Renovators to Work Safely Around Lead Paint

Lead Paint Certification Training was held Oct. 17 at the Mission. Mary O’Sullivan-Snyder, an EPA-accredited trainer, taught an eight-hour class to participants from Rockford Rescue Mission, Carpenter’s Place, Reformers Anonymous and other local organizations. The class was made possible through a Lead Grant with the Winnebago County Health Department for the EPA’s Certified Renovators.

This is normally a $300 seminar that provides participants with a five-year certification to work safely in pre-1978 homes and businesses. All contractors are required to have at least one certified person in their organization. The seminar was free to those residents and select guests that have a construction background.
