Due to the anticipated winter storm, Rockford Rescue Mission is postponing its 59th annual Christmas Banquet by one week. The banquet will now be served from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at the Mission, 715 W. State St. This meal is offered free to all.
“We want to first consider the safety of our guests, volunteers and staff,” said Mission CEO Sherry Pitney. “We still look forward to a joyful celebration—just a week later.”
Meantime, the Mission’s Crisis services and regular meals will be provided as usual this week, regardless of the weather.
For the Dec. 30 Christmas Banquet, media members are invited to arrive at 11:45 a.m. for interviews with Mission staff and residents. The Great Room, where the banquet will take place, will be available for filming or photography at noon.
